Just read an alarming article on how much sugar in the UK children are consuming each year. It worked out at the equivalent of 20kg of sugar. These sugars are in pastries, soft drinks, yogurts, snacks and treats. I was watching Breakfast News this morning and the over riding influence of parents buying these foods is economic. It is hard to consider purchasing a punnet of strawberries, for example, which will be eaten in one sitting as  compared with the cost of a multi bag of crisps which will last longer. and are cheaper. Education of parents, families and children is not enough. The cost of eating healthy has to be made affordable and preferable to the cheaper option.
