My Love A Poem by Lorraine Poulter 2016

My Love

When I look into that face for the hundredth, no thousandth time
I can see the face of love that no one else can see,
Nor use my eyes to see.
The face that lights up the night with eyes that twinkle,
With words that shine,
A smile that sends from the darkness all shadows.
I see the face that launched a thousand laughs,

If you cold see that face the way that I do,
You would know what true love is.
If you could hear the tender tones of the spoken charmed words
You would understand how they ring on my ears, lyrical and heartfelt.
You would reach for the skies to bring down that star that shines so bright

To hold and never let go.
